The novitiate is a vital stage in religious formation during which young women are prepared for deeper intimacy with God and for the profession of first vows in religious life. It is a period of prayer, discernment, silence, learning, and gradual integration into the spirituality, charism, mission, and community life of the Congregation.

At the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena Novitiate, Makurdi, the formation programme promotes holistic development through spiritual, human, intellectual, and apostolic formation. Formative activities include daily prayers, recollections, retreats, classroom lectures, workshops, inter-novitiate encounters, catechetical instruction, taking readings during Mass, Sunday school apostolate, hospital and home visitations, celebrations and apostolic experiences in various communities of the Congregation.

These experiences help shape the novices into prayerful, compassionate, disciplined, and spiritually grounded women, prepared to serve God and His people with love and dedication.
